In a world where health is often measured by how we look, what if we chose to see it through the lens of faith? In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with them. This idea shifts how we approach our health, making it not just about how we feel or look, but about how we worship and glorify God through caring for the bodies He has entrusted to us.
Let’s take a closer look at these verses:
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
This passage speaks powerfully about stewardship and responsibility. Our bodies are not just our own to do with as we please. They are sacred spaces where God’s Spirit resides. When we take care of our bodies—whether through rest, nourishing foods, exercise, or even spiritual care—we are honoring the One who created us.
For many years, I viewed fitness as a way to achieve physical goals, but God revealed to me that my health was part of His plan for my life. One day, during my quiet time, I felt convicted to approach my health with the same care and intention I applied to my spiritual walk. It wasn’t easy, but through prayer and discipline, I began to see my health as a form of worship, and it transformed how I live each day. This week, let’s focus on treating our bodies as sacred spaces—taking even small steps to honor God with our health. Together, we can reflect His love in every choice we make.
Honoring God with our bodies isn’t about achieving a certain physical standard, nor is it about being perfect. It’s about surrendering our health to God and making choices that reflect His love and care for us. Every small decision—from choosing a nourishing meal to prioritizing rest—can be an act of worship. The key is consistency and intentionality, knowing that we are glorifying God through how we care for the body He has gifted us.
Take a moment to reflect: How are you treating your body as a temple? Are there areas where you need to surrender control and let God guide your choices?
Join me in reflecting this week on how you can honor God through your health. Whether it’s drinking more water, getting enough sleep, or simply thanking God for the body He’s given you, let’s take small steps together to align our health with our faith.
