Your body is a temple, and every move you make can be an act of worship.
It’s more than just exercise or hitting a step goal—it’s about honoring God with the body He’s entrusted to you. Reflecting on movement as worship invites us to see our daily activity, not as a chore, but as a chance to connect with Him, to care for our health, and to express gratitude.
Whether it’s a walk outside, lifting weights, or even stretching, every movement can be an intentional way to glorify God. Just as we offer our prayers and service as worship, our movement can reflect that same heart posture. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we’re reminded that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, a gift from God. What a privilege it is to honor Him through how we care for ourselves.
Physical Movement and Spiritual Reflection
I love using my walking time to connect with God. Whether I’m listening to a worship playlist, reflecting on what I’m grateful for, or taking the time to pray and talk with Him, each step feels intentional. As I walk, I can feel my spirit lifting, a reminder to let go and trust in Him.
My body becomes a vessel for worship—not just through songs or prayers but through simple, mindful movement. I also feel deeply connected to God during a spin class, a bike ride, or even a lifting session. There’s nothing quite like the gratitude I experience after finishing a strength workout, feeling strong, capable, and reminded of the incredible gift of my body.
In every moment of movement, God meets me. These physical acts of worship are my way of honoring Him.
Notice the Blessings of Movement
I want to invite you to take a moment to reflect on your own movement this past week. How did you feel physically? Did you experience any shifts in your mood, energy, or overall well-being? But more importantly, how did you feel spiritually? Movement can be a way to draw closer to God, to express gratitude for the body He created, and to honor Him through your actions.
Maybe you found a sense of peace on a walk or felt strong during a workout. Perhaps you noticed moments where movement felt challenging, yet you still pushed through with perseverance. Whatever it was, take time to notice the blessings that came with moving your body this week.
But what if you’re reading this and thinking, “Jen, I don’t have any type of movement routine”? I want to encourage you—it’s never too late to start! The blessings of adding the habit of movement to your life are truly endless.
Think Through It: Worship Through Movement
I encourage you to take some time to think or journal about your experience with movement and how it honors God. Ask yourself these questions:
- How does movement make me feel physically and spiritually?
- In what ways can I approach movement as an act of worship?
- How has God met me in the moments I’ve been active this week?
- How can I be more intentional about connecting with God through my daily movement?
By journaling, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how physical activity can be intertwined with your spiritual life. You might be surprised at the insights you discover and the ways God shows up when you offer your movement to Him in worship.
