Are You Good Soil??

How many people are going through life looking fine in appearance, but lacking the necessary nourishment from the Word of God to fully thrive, be fruitful, and live the abundant life God has planned for them??

Are you one of them?

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

Matthew 13:23

I want my heart and mind to be good soil, in which the seed, God’s Word, can be sown into. I want to hear the Word and understand the Word. By applying Matthew 13:23 to our lives we can become good soil where seed can be sown. We can become hearers and doers. And we can be fruitful!  We can thrive and live out the abundant life God intended for us!

Cultivate Good Soil:

Is your heart and mind ready for the Word of God??

We must be open to learning and receiving God’s word, becoming individuals that are available and teachable. We must try to be people with honest and good hearts. Practicing thoughtfulness and kindness. We must try to be faithful and obedient to God. When we work towards these things, we are cultivating the desired environment for God’s Word to thrive within us. From our hearts everything else flows. If our hearts are hardened, mean-spirited, and callused it will be very difficult for the seed to thrive within us. If you study out the Parable of the Sower, you’ll see that there are other types of soil, in which the Word of God does not thrive. These people remain lost, never becoming true believers, and never producing good fruit within their lives.

God can absolutely help us change our hearts, in fact you can’t do it without Him. Reach out to Him in prayer, and let Him help you determine the true state of your heart, and how to begin cultivating good soil within yourself.

Hear the Word:

Place yourself in the right places, at the right times, with the right people. Hearing the Word of God on a regular basis will help us fully understand it and start applying it to our lives. Fill your environment with the Word of God. You can do this by listening to sermons or teachings from a variety of preachers and teachers, and attending church regularly. Surround yourself with good Christian people in whom you see the light of Jesus Christ, this will lead to purposeful and meaningful conversations about the Word of God. Fill your life with people who inspire you to live a God first life, and try to make sure you are inspiring others with your words and your actions as well.

The person of good soil will hear the Word, absorb the Word, and use the Word to transpire change within themselves.

Understand the Word:

Hearing the Word is awesome, but to truly sow the Word deep into our minds, bodies, and souls we need to understand it. This happens when we are intentional about studying the Word of God. Just you, God, and your Bible. Studying God’s Word is fundamental to a placing God first in your life. It is fundamental to our growth as Christians, no matter what stage we are at.

The Scriptures are the Word of God, which the Spirit of God thrives in. – Jentezen Franklin, Right People, Right Place, Right Plan

Do you want to feel connected with the Spirit of God?

Then take time to pick up God’s Word and dive in.

We need to be intentional about trying to understand His Word, so we can truly understand how amazing God is and develop a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Without His Word sown within us, we will never understand love, how to live a God first life, avoid sin and temptation, or fully walk in the abundant and abounding blessings He has planned for us.

My darling friend, He already has your life planned, and His plans bring joy, peace, love, provision, and happiness.  Yes, you’ll still have hard times-but His Word can help you through these difficult seasons too. The Word of God is truly like medicine to our souls.

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

Romans 15:4

However, if we never take the time to understand His Word, we will miss out on God’s will for our lives. If we don’t allow His Word to be sown into our hearts and our minds, we will miss the life we are promised. I fully believe once we start to understand scriptures it becomes easier to live them out.

We must try hard to be hearers and doers of the Word. But to apply God’s Word to our lives and see transformation transpire we must first work hard to understand it.

Produce Fruit:

A seed sown in good soil will be fruitful. A person of good soil that hears and understands the Word of God, becoming a true believer, will live a life that is productive, constructive, useful, worthwhile, helpful, beneficial, valuable, rewarding, profitable, successful, and well spent. They will also start to see the fruit of the Spirit love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control transpire within them.

True Christians are distinguished by their fruitfulness.

I want to be fruitful!!

Don’t you?

We are all capable of being good soil, it only takes willingness to accept and understand the truth. Hearing and understanding God’s Word is the only way to renew our minds, becoming more like Christ and less like the world. Those that truly hear, understand, and live out the Word of God become fruitful.

We must be good soil so the Word of God can become planted and deeply rooted within us.

It takes time and effort for God’s Word to develop deep roots. We should never stop growing and developing our personal relationship with God. As we work to become good soil ourselves, let’s not forget to shine bright in the eyes of others. Let’s not forget to glorify our Father in heaven with our good works, as we become hearers and doers of His Word. Let’s encourage and inspire others to draw near to God as we do the same.

I encourage you to take a look at yourself right now.

Is your heart and mind good soil for Gods Word to be sown??

Are you being intentional to make time to hear and understand the Word of God??

Are you producing good fruit??

Pray this prayer:

Father, I pray that You will help my heart and mind become good soil in which Your Word can be sown. I pray I would be the one who hears, grasping and comprehending Your Word. I pray I become a doer of Your Word, living out Your will for my life. I pray I would be the one who bears a hundred times the amount that was sown. Father, let the fruit within my life be a testimony of Your goodness! Let my life glorify you!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
